There are films that you consider to be flawless until you watch them again years later and realize that they aren’t even as good as you thought they were. Instead they’re more like testimonials of their time, grounded in the very moment. Times are constantly changing and many of the films from back then evoke quite different emotions today. But there are also the rare exceptions that haven’t lost any of their magic. Films that years and decades later still manage to captivate just like they did when they were originally released. Magnolia is such a case for me. I…

“FM4 Sunny Side Up” by Various Artists
There’s something special about Sunday mornings. That’s the way it is. Sunday mornings are for lovers, for sunshine talks, for being nice to the cat. Every other morning we want a kick cause there’s stuff we’ve got to get done. On Sundays, we want kisses. Lots of them. Preferably not from the cat. We want songs that feel like kisses. Songs that let us dream our way into the day. Songs that let us go back to sleep for a while. These are the FM4 kisses. This is how the initiators – radio host John Megill and music director Marcus…
“Yesterday” by Daniel Pemberton, Himesh Patel
I‘m always creating covers, always busy with lots of projects and endless entries on my mental to-do-lists. So I’m definitely not lacking duties, or ideas for that matter. What I’m definitely lacking tho is discipline in publishing. It’s not rare that this blog lies idle for months without any new posts, even though I’m all of a dither behind the curtains, working on multiple things at the same time. More than once, I thought about giving up traditional blogging as you know it and just upload my custom covers on some online service instead (here or elsewhere). But somehow this…
“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” by Alan Silvestri
Just a quick insert for this 80s classic by Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg. When I stumbled across Alan Silvestri’s album in my music library the other day, I noticed how dreadfully low-res the embedded cover artwork actually was. And to my absolute consternation I was not able to find a better looking version anywhere on the net. Intrada apparently publishes their official covers in a rather lousy resolution of 600×600 pixels only – a mid-level crime in today’s digital age if you ask me. Their Special Collection productions may receive the highest level of care and dedication, however when…
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” by John Williams
So… where were we? Oh right, I had put all my unfinished projects on hold to tinker with some cowboy covers. And it only took me 287 days. Wonderful, huh?!? I’m sure both of you regular visitors didn’t mind. But now back to business, shall we? After all there has been a new Star Wars movie coming along. And although I doubted that the finale of the sequel trilogy would affect me as emotionally as the originals did at their time, I’m still quite a passionate fan when it comes to George Lucas’ space opera. Most of all I’m keen…
