“Alien – The Inkjava Collection” by Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Elliot Goldenthal, John Frizzell

For today’s custom covers series I once again ventured back into my all-time favourite film universe: the dark and gritty realms of the Alien franchise. Although a slightly altered version of it… It’s not like I haven’t already spent enough hours of my life with these creatures, but I just can’t help it. The Xenomorph still amazes me in all of its various life forms. This whole fictional world exerts a strange fascination on me and I’m certainly not the only one, given the staggering wealth of fan-artwork that can be found on the web. One of those devoted fans is…

“Total Recall (The Deluxe Edition)” by Jerry Goldsmith

Hey, it’s SonicAdventure – again. Heidl asked me to feature my covers for Total Recall. And I thought he was having enough of me considering the covers I did for Poltergeist. I was hesitant and excited at the same time. Because the covers for this classic 1990 SciFi movie are not my usual boring crap. I did all the stuff I usually hate to do: re-arranging, cutting, cleaning, creating and mocking material. The reason? No idea. I love the score, I love the movie. And there exists a ton of gorgeous alternate poster material! This is no obscure movie like…

“Poltergeist (The Deluxe Edition)” by Jerry Goldsmith

Hi! My name is SonicAdventure. Usually, I don’t do covers, at least not the ones you can see below. I’m a mastering engineer by trade; that is my hobby, my passion and sometimes my job. You’ve probably encountered one of my remasters before, after all, I collaborated with Heidl numerous times: he does the covers, I do the sound. But that hasn’t always been the case. A decade ago I started out doing everything on my own, including the covers. The reason for designing them was simple: I wanted to print them out and put them on the shelf alongside…

Lost Covers, Vol. 5

This years entry of our ongoing series “Lost Covers” contains a wide array of different works. Like its predecessors, most covers in here showcase all kinds of failures and *whatcangowrongs* in cover design. But there also are little gemstones like my contract work for Gwenaël Mario Grisi, a rising Belgian composer whose overnight(!) composition Through the Clouds definitely was one of the most beautiful tracks I’ve heard in 2017. Also, Gwenaël has his own IMdb page, so he’s officially my new best friend ;) The overall amount of commissioned covers is unusually high this time. Not royalty-based though, only voluntary…

“The Alien Adventures” by Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, Elliot Goldenthal, John Frizzell

I just need to use this post to talk about a very special series dear to my heart. I’m talking about a series that every young lad can remember watching every school day morning, waiting anxiously for each new, exciting episode. I am, of course, talking about the children’s classic, Alien. Alien was a stable in the early 80’s to late 90’s children’s animated block for ABC. Who could forget the action-packed yet surprisingly family-friendly adventures of our ass-kicking protagonist, Ridley, her on-again-off-again love interest Lt. Licks, her annoying little sister Mute, and the mysterious but reliable cyborg Castle as…
