“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” by Daniel Pemberton, Samuel Sim

Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series, which premiered in 2019, is a prequel to the 1982 film, The Dark Crystal. The series, which consists of ten episodes, is set in the same universe as the original movie and is filled with fascinating characters, creatures, and an intricate storyline. One of the most significant differences between the new series and the original is the use of advanced technology. While the original film used puppetry and animatronics, Age of Resistance uses a mix of practical effects and modern CGI. However, despite the updated technology, the creators of the show worked hard to maintain the spirit and feel of the original.

Despite a remarkable cast of voice actors (Anya Taylor-Joy, Mark Hamill and Sigourney Weaver, among others) and many talented and renowned names behind the scenes (Louis Leterrier, Daniel Pemberton, Samuel Sim), the series unfortunately didn’t reach the viewer numbers expected (by Netflix) and thus suffered the same fate as many other streaming series these days. It was canceled after only one season, leaving its fans with a cliffhanger ending, without much hope for a resolution.

I created these custom covers sometime in late 2019, but somehow never got around to posting them on my blog (for whatever reason). However, they have been available for quite some time on Lasse Vogt’s ScoreGeek blog. In fact, it was him who originally asked me to make these covers, and I’m very grateful that he did, because otherwise I would’ve missed out on one of the most enchanting and masterfully created fantasy series of recent times.

So, rather late, but still: Thank you, my friend!

  1. Wow, thank you so much for the shout-out! And awesome that you personally are making them public now. They deserve to be seen and you deserve a lot of praise for creating them.
    Keep up the amazing work.

Netflix should be utterly ashamed for canceling this.
And also, this is completely optional, so you do NOT have to do this, but we have ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ soundtrack cover:
Do you think you can recreate(?) this with this kind of title card?:
And while we’re at it, can you do a similar thing with ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ soundtrack cover? Here’s the original cover:
    …and here’s the title card:
Again, this is all up to you, so if you think you can’t do these, you don’t have to any any of these. 😉
