What a mess! The very last season of Stranger Things rolled around at the end of last year with a huge buzz and it really seemed as if half of humanity had nothing better to do than once again lose their minds to ugly Vecna and his ghastly monsters from the Upside Down. Like many others, I too found myself perched in front of the TV on New Year’s Eve – or rather New Year’s Night, because due to timezone constraints, the grande finale wasn’t aired until 2:30 AM! I was watching it with my 14-year-old and expected nothing less…

“Stranger Things: Season Three & Four” by Kyle Dixon, Michael Stein, Various Artists
Happy Stranger Things day! Today is November 6th, the day Will Byers went missing in the show’s first season and a good opportunity for me to head back into the upside-down. A few years ago, I had published a really extensive collection of tribute covers for the first two seasons, mainly based on movies from the 80s. After weeks and weeks of creative labor I thought that I was more or less done with Stranger Things. I’ve made just too many covers back then and there were not enough 80s cult hits left for me to tackle. But when I…
Lost Covers, Vol. 6
Some things never change – A sort of mantra that was sitting in the header on one of my first websites. And I guess it is just like that. But some things do change and here are six of ’em that have indeed changed over time on HQCovers. Making a virtue of necessity Back in the early 2000s, I started making my own soundtrack covers due to the lack of high quality artwork available. This whole thing really was born out of necessity. Over time I’ve more and more started tackling soundtracks that I don’t even have. And by…
“Poltergeist (The Deluxe Edition)” by Jerry Goldsmith
Hi! My name is SonicAdventure. Usually, I don’t do covers, at least not the ones you can see below. I’m a mastering engineer by trade; that is my hobby, my passion and sometimes my job. You’ve probably encountered one of my remasters before, after all, I collaborated with Heidl numerous times: he does the covers, I do the sound. But that hasn’t always been the case. A decade ago I started out doing everything on my own, including the covers. The reason for designing them was simple: I wanted to print them out and put them on the shelf alongside…
Lost Covers, Vol. 5
This years entry of our ongoing series “Lost Covers” contains a wide array of different works. Like its predecessors, most covers in here showcase all kinds of failures and *whatcangowrongs* in cover design. But there also are little gemstones like my contract work for Gwenaël Mario Grisi, a rising Belgian composer whose overnight(!) composition Through the Clouds definitely was one of the most beautiful tracks I’ve heard in 2017. Also, Gwenaël has his own IMdb page, so he’s officially my new best friend ;) The overall amount of commissioned covers is unusually high this time. Not royalty-based though, only voluntary…
