Steve Alten’s MEG is one of the few books I’ve read multiple times. Not because I enjoy shallow entertainment (well I do!), but because I just freaking LOVE animal horror flicks. Man, has it really been this long already? Last week HQCovers has officially turned five. By now it has learned to write its own name and has become extremely picky when it comes to dress up in the morning. During my massive three-year undertaking for Marc Streitenfeld’s Prometheus I constantly persuaded my dear friend SonicAdventure to bless this score with one of his trademark Deluxe Edition treatments. My most wanted film of 2012 was Prometheus by Ridley Scott. Despite all its mind-boggling flaws, I still enjoyed the hell out of this movie. A thing that initially couldn’t be said about Marc Streitenfeld’s score though. While it’s still very effective and on certain tracks actually really good, it definitely fell behind the previous four scores of the Alien saga (yes, even Resurrection). The unwanted brainchilds, the dispassionate requests, the okay’ish ones I guess and the late comers. Also the lone wolves that’d definitely deserve a single post but somehow didn’t end up in one. They all suffer the same fate: Being dumped into this consolation prize of a blog entry, without the chance of ever being the single featured image on the front page. For the third time now.
