The English Surgeon is a british documentary film by Geoffrey Smith, scored by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. I got hold of this soundtrack as part of the Cave/Ellis soundtrack sampler White Lunar, which contains highlights from The Proposition, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Road, The English Surgeon and The Girls of Phnom Penh. I‘ve created these Oblivion covers at the same time, as my Morrowind covers. And in my opinion they look just as good. I’ve created two custom covers based on the different game editions, the Standard Edition (#1) and the Collector’s Edition (#2). No big deal, cropping the image to a square and adding the subtle credits at the bottom of the cover, so that it’s not distracting from the game’s logo. These Morrowind covers have a kind of warmth to them, that I can’t get enough of. They represent the music on the score so damn well, as if they’re coming right out of the game’s world, Tamriel. I’m really proud of the first one (#1), the credits font look just perfect to me. The colours and shadows blend in in so nicely with the background, as if they’ve always just been there. I love it! I’m not a hundret percent sure about the second one though (#2). I think the font type I chose here, looks a little too medieval…

There have been four official soundtracks for Crysis 2, and every single one looked basically the same. And also, horrible. I felt they were all too cool, too bold and in your face. But since I – to my own surprise – enjoyed the musical score quite good (something I couldn’t tell about the game though), I needed an adequate soundtrack cover. When Garry Schyman’s score soundtrack to BioShock was released on the official website, I immediately started designing cover artworks for it. I especially like the first one (#1) with it’s 3D-like surface.
