The score to this TV documentary was released to the public on Nick Cave and Warren Ellis’ sort-of-retrospective White Lunar. I knew I was gonna split the contents of that compilation into separete albums, so I went looking for source material. Marc Streitenfeld’s The Grey took me with surprise, I didn’t expect such a meager and melancholy soundscape from him, and I mean that in a positive way. Today I’m presenting three covers for the Dead Island score by Pawel Blaszczak – and Giles Lamb, who created that haunting tune for the legendary teaser trailer of the game. I decided to give them both credit for the soundtrack, since most people associate Giles Lamb’s theme with the game. The English Surgeon is a british documentary film by Geoffrey Smith, scored by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. I got hold of this soundtrack as part of the Cave/Ellis soundtrack sampler White Lunar, which contains highlights from The Proposition, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, The Road, The English Surgeon and The Girls of Phnom Penh.
