Let’s pretend for a moment that you’re recording a thoughtful and highly entertaining in-depth podcast about the Deborah Lurie/Danny Elfman score 9. How do you make sure people are actually stumbling upon your work? It’s not like Shane Acker’s film was anywhere near the hottest shit coming out in 2009. And popular search results on Google or YouTube may vary wildly depending on your personal browser history. So this may be a very ungrateful soundtrack to tackle. Yet here I am, adding another 9-movie-related website no-one’s ever gonna find beneath the gazillions of dumb mind candy clickbait à la “9 Insane…

The following posts contain especially designed custom covers for supplemental singles or EPs, which sometimes serve as a free give-away or a promotion release in advance of a regular soundtrack album.
“Before the Flood” by Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Gustavo Santaolalla, Mogwai
Think what you like about Leonardo DiCaprio, but his personal commitment when it comes to environmental issues such as global warming deserves respect. Even more so now that he and his producing team decided to release their latest project Before the Flood publicly for free, thus making it available for anybody to see without the need to go to the movies or spend money on it. It’s a bold statement, to encourage people go watch this documentary and raise the awareness, because frankly, it affects us all, whether we like it or not. To help spreading the word, Before the Flood comes backed with a…
“Stranger Things” by Kyle Dixon, Michael Stein, Various Artists
Netflix’s Stranger Things is without a doubt this summer’s biggest TV sensation. No wonder the clamour for its original score was loud among fans. And the producers did answer in form of a massive 75-tracks-set, divided into two separate albums. Show ’em all you’ve got instead of setting a few specific marks, that probably was the motto behind those two releases. And while I do appreciate complete and expanded scores a lot, I’m a bit overwhelmed by that huge amount of music. But who am I to judge? I actually started working on this custom covers series before the official…
Lost Covers, Vol. 3
The unwanted brainchilds, the dispassionate requests, the okay’ish ones I guess and the late comers. Also the lone wolves that’d definitely deserve a single post but somehow didn’t end up in one. They all suffer the same fate: Being dumped into this consolation prize of a blog entry, without the chance of ever being the single featured image on the front page. For the third time now. I should rename this series into The Good, the Bad and the Tragically Misjudged. But Lost Covers rolls off the tongue more elegantly. Though not everything’s lost on these to be honest. This time I’ve included two covers, that rightfully deserve a gallery…
“Minority Report” by John Williams
Minority Report ranks up pretty high on my personal Steven Spielberg hitlist. In fact it’s still my favourite film of his from this century. Imho it’s one of those rare cases in which a stellar script and an even better screen adaptation result in the pinnacle of blockbuster movie-making. Be it the bleak and high contrasted visuals, an authentic and well thought out world, or the exciting but reasonable action setpieces (a Spielberg trademark!). Minority Report has it all. The level of perfection and craftsmanship is astounding. And I kinda missed that side of Spielberg in the last decade. John…
